the new Shift-drag select seems to slightly change the colour of the green triangle but doesn't seem to let it go back to the original colour.

When you Shift+drag, QM expects that you will paste them somewhere. Removes the cut-highlight when you paste. Now if you don't want to cut/paste, you can click the cut-highlighted item and press Ctrl+X or Ctrl+V. But in next QM it will also be possible with Shift+drag.
