I'm seeing this prog in my process list; is it from QM?

Yes, it is QM media player that is used with Play.

Ahhhh....yes...i actually use that all the time....
should the process stop when the sound is killed?

The process does not exit automatically. Download the attached qmmp.exe. It exits automatically if is invisible and not playing for 5 minutes.
