this may just be me but when i use a transparent OSD the text shows up much fatter and uglier than if i put it in a visible window.

Is this the same for everyone or just me?

these two items are same font same text size but look very different.

Possibly because of smooth edges of fonts. Around font pixels are drawn partially transparent pixels. Then these pixels don't match the background color, which is dialog backround color.

On Vista smooth edges is default Windows setting and idk if it can be changed. On XP can be changed in display properties.
